WYANDOTTE — Do you go all-out to decorate your house for
the Christmas season?
If so, consider entering the Wyandotte Jaycees
"Lighting Up Downriver" contest to see who can show the most holiday
spirit.
On Saturday, the Jaycees will drive around to each contestant's
house and judge each on creativity of the light display.
The first-place winner will receive $100, plus a Swedish massage
from Somata Spa in Riverview. The second-place winner will receive
$50, plus a gift from Shirley's Callico Cottage in Wyandotte. The
third-place winner will receive $25.
To enter, send your name, address and telephone number with a $10
entry fee to Wyandotte Jaycees, P.O. Box 276, Wyandotte, MI 48192.
Winners will be notified Dec. 20. Call the Jaycees hotline at
1-734-284-3861, as prizes may be added to the list.
Maybe you just want to show off your display for others to enjoy.
If that's the case, take part in "Wyandotte Aglow at Christmas,"
sponsored by Wyandotte Municipal Service Community Programming and
the Wyandotte Cable volunteers.
Wyandotte Aglow is the recording and broadcasting on local cable
TV of exterior Christmas decorations on city houses. To participate,
residents should mail a postcard or letter with name and address by
Wednesday to Wyandotte Aglow, 3005 Biddle Ave., Wyandotte, MI 48192,
Attn: Cable Studio.
A video production crew will hit the streets Friday through next
Sunday to record houses' exterior Christmas decorations.
These videos will be played back
on cable Channel 16 during the Christmas/New Year's holiday starting
